A: I teach ashtanga, an ancient form of yoga orginating from India (see About Yoga) and Dynamic yoga (classes based on ashtanga yoga).
A: The Ashtanga Primary Series taught in a led class
takes 90 minutes from start to finish comprising of sun salutations to
produce heat in the body, standing postures, seated postures and
finishing postures.
When there is not time to complete all the
postures, due to a shorter class time, some postures will be missed out, this is referred to as a Dynamic yoga class. An integral part of ashtanga is hands on adjustments, which are used to assist you in the posture.
All classes end with deep relaxation.
A: Comfortable clothing - Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move, such as gym trousers and a vest top or shorts and a t-shirt. You will be asked to wear bare feet during the practice, but it is a good idea to have warm clothes to put on at the end before deep relaxation, as you will cool down quickly.
Yoga mat - If you have a yoga mat, then please bring it to your practice. It is not essential as mats will be provided.
Water - Drinking water during your practice is discouraged as this cools down your body. However, you may wish to bring some water to rehydrate yourself after the practice.
